PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” Subotica, as the Lead Partner of the FLOW – Facilitating Local Optimization of Water-supply project, implemented within the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, is introducing an important new function – energy management.
The establishment of an energy management function represents an important step towards more modern, efficient and sustainable management of the water supply and wastewater systems. Through the FLOW project, PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” Subotica is establishing a systematic framework that will enable:
- continuous monitoring and analysis of energy consumption;
- identification of major energy consumers and energy optimisation opportunities;
- planning and prioritisation of energy-efficiency measures;
- reduction of energy and operational costs;
- improved energy efficiency of facilities and systems;
- better planning of future investments;
- strengthening of internal capacities and staff expertise;
- long-term reduction of the environmental impact of operations.
A particularly important aspect of this activity is that energy management will not remain a one-off project measure, but will become a permanent function within PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” Subotica, enabling planned, measurable and continuous management of energy resources.
The FLOW – Facilitating Local Optimization of Water-supply project is jointly implemented by PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” Subotica, PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” Stara Pazova, Municipality of Tompojevci and the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb.
Through their joint activities, the FLOW project contributes to improving the efficiency, sustainability and resilience of water supply systems, while promoting modern management approaches, knowledge exchange and stronger cross-border cooperation between Serbia and Croatia.
