Facilitating Local Optimization of Water-supply (FLOW)
Priority Axis 2: Cooperating for greener and climate change resilient programme area
Operation start date: 1 February 2026
Operation completion date: 31 January 2028
Budget: EUR 959.563,77
Number of partners: 4
Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The project’s main objective is to strengthen the social, economic, and territorial development of the cross-border area between Croatia and Serbia while encouraging and supporting cross-border cooperation through investments that enhance energy efficiency and improve the integration of sustainable renewable energy sources in the water supply system.
The main outputs of the project are:
– Integrated approach study in the water supply management (IWRM). IWRM is a process that promotes the coordinated management and development of water and related resources to balance socio-economic outcomes with the health of water resources and the condition of key ecosystems that depend on them.
– Introduction of RES into the water supply system – developed technical solutions, including solar panels for pumping stations and DMA wells, increasing energy efficiency and sustainability.
A particularly important result of the entire project is the contribution to the construction of a water network for 3 settlements that do not have drinking water in the 21st century.
Beneficiaries:
Public utility company “Waterworks and sewerage” Subotica (RS) as Lead Partner in this project will ensure the successful implementation of the entire project, cooperating with other partners and coordinating their activities. In addition, ViK Su will ensure regular communication, information sharing and cooperation among all partners in order to achieve the common goal of the project. ViK SU will introduce energy management into their operations and with this project they will introduce new models into the water supply system. With the construction of 2 DMA zones, that will be powered by solar power and pumping stations with a small solar power plant, they are making a big turn in their business, turning to the greatest possible saving of water and electricity.
Public utility company waterworks and sewerage Stara Pazova (RS) as Project Partner will be responsible for the introduction of energy management in its institution and, according to the results of the initial analysis, it will create project and technical documentation for the solar power plant. ViK SP is also responsible for the promotion and visibility of the project so that the public is aware of the activities, results and sources of funding. Its role will be crucial in ensuring the effective implementation of planned measures, optimizing operational processes and laying the foundations for the long-term sustainability and development of the water supply and sewage system in line with the project’s objectives.
Municipality of Tompojevci (HR) as Project Partner will implement planned activities, effective coordination of all stakeholders and ensure high-quality project outcomes. One of the key tasks of the Mun of Tomp will be the preparation of project-technical documentation for the water supply network of the settlements of Berak and Mikluševci according to the instructions that will result from the initial analysis that will be prepared by the working group. The Mun of Tomp will install 6 DMA zones where the electricity supply of the measuring wells will be realized photovoltaic power supply system with panels that can ensure uninterrupted operation throughout the year and in parallel with connection to the power grid. Its role will be key in optimizing operational processes, implementing sustainable solutions and laying the foundations for long-term development and modernization of the water supply and drainage system in accordance with the project’s goals.
Ruđer Bošković Institute (HR) as Project Partner will make an initial analysis of the existing state of the water supply system in the border area with recommendations and measures on the introduction of RES into the water supply system. Their scientists will be the main part of the working group that will create a solution for the entire project, which will be adopted by the partners. RBI will actively optimize operational processes, implement sustainable solutions and lay the foundation for the long-term modernization and development of the water supply and sewage system, in line with the project’s objectives.
