The closing conference of the CREATEGREEN project was held last week in Osijek. Hosted by the BIOS Business Incubator, one of the project partners, the event brought together 116 participants representing 69 institutions.

The conference provided an opportunity to present the activities implemented within the CREATEGREEN project and highlight the benefits of renewable energy, which plays a vital role in tackling climate change and supporting the transition towards a more sustainable economy.

As part of the project, nine solar power plants are being installed across the Croatia–Serbia cross-border area. In addition, a micro-scale solar energy efficiency monitoring system has been developed, serving as an example of an innovative integrated platform for smart grid management. Investments in these solutions represent an important step towards a more resilient, healthier and environmentally sustainable future.

One of the key shared territorial challenges in the Croatia–Serbia cross-border area is the insufficient promotion and use of available renewable energy sources, particularly solar energy, despite the growing availability of technological solutions. Against this background, the overall objective of CREATEGREEN is to promote the production and application of sustainable and transparent energy solutions through the deployment of solar power plants across the cross-border region.

The CREATEGREEN project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Croatia–Serbia Cross-border Cooperation Programme, with an EU contribution of EUR 1,872,801.60. The total project budget amounts to EUR 2,203,296.00.

The implementation of all project activities and the achievement of the planned objectives are expected to be completed by 14 December 2026.
