The new Counselling Centre at Dom Ilok has officially opened its doors, marking an important step towards improving social care and the quality of life for the local community. The modern facility was constructed as part of the SocCare project, funded by the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Serbia 2021–2027 Programme.

The investment demonstrates how European funds can support the development of more accessible, humane social infrastructure that responds to the needs of local communities and delivers tangible benefits to citizens. The centre was officially opened on 1 October, the International Day of Older Persons, highlighting the importance of solidarity, care for older people, and ensuring better living conditions for all generations.

  • Psychosocial support – professional assistance in coping with life’s challenges and maintaining mental well-being.
  • Legal counselling – free legal advice and guidance on exercising individual rights.
  • Health and rehabilitation services – support for maintaining physical health and mobility and facilitating recovery.
  • Education and lectures – opportunities for learning, personal development, and access to information on relevant topics.
  • Social activities – creative workshops, social gatherings, and other activities that strengthen community ties, promote active ageing, and help combat loneliness.

The construction, equipping, and opening of the Counselling Centre represent some of the activities implemented through the SocCare project, which runs from 1 October 2024 to 31 March 2027.

The project has a total value of 1,759,424 EURO of which 804,037 is allocated to the Ilok Home for the Elderly and Infirm. This funding is provided by the European Union and the Vukovar-Srijem County budget. The remaining funds are allocated to the other project partners: Caritas Šabac, the Vukovar-Srijem County Development Agency, and the Bačka Palanka Gerontology Centre.

Through this cross-border cooperation, the SocCare project aims to strengthen social care services and improve the well-being of vulnerable groups, contributing to more inclusive and supportive communities in Croatia and Serbia.
