A transnational meeting of the REBIOFORESTS project, New Forest Restoration Methods for Enhanced Biodiversity in the Spačva–Bosut Basin, was held at the Forestry Museum in Bošnjaci, bringing together project partners and stakeholders from Croatia and Serbia.

The event was opened by Marinko Beljo, State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Darijan Zeko, Member of the Management Board of Croatian Forests; Danijela Slipčević, Advisor to the Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds and Director of the Vukovar-Srijem County Development Agency; Josip Barišić, Head of the Department for Economy of the City of Vinkovci; and Ivan Ambroš, Director of CEKOM. In their opening remarks, the speakers emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation, forest ecosystem restoration, and climate change adaptation.

Following the opening addresses, Project Manager Danijel Cestarić, M.Sc., presented the project’s objectives, key activities, and achievements to date. Project partners then introduced their respective institutions and outlined the activities they are implementing within REBIOFORESTS, with a particular focus on knowledge exchange and the application of innovative forest restoration methods.

The second part of the meeting included a field visit to the project area near Otočki Virovi, where participants explored examples of restoration activities designed to support forest recovery and enhance biodiversity across the Spačva–Bosut Basin.

The transnational meeting once again demonstrated the value of cross-border cooperation in safeguarding natural heritage and promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices among project partners. Through joint action, the partners are laying the groundwork for more effective forest habitat restoration and the long-term conservation of biodiversity—one of the central objectives of the REBIOFORESTS project.
