As part of the Interreg IPA Croatia-Serbia project REBIOFORESTS, a gene bank of pedunculate oak was established in Serbia on an area of 9 hectares, comprising 103 half-sib families originating from a generative seed orchard.

Maintaining genetic diversity in trees is essential for enhancing their resilience to climate change. By conserving this diversity, we ensure that forests can adapt to shifting conditions, support biodiversity, and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable planet. The gene bank of pedunculate oak was established within Forest Management Unit “Radinska-Vranjak”, which is managed by the Public Enterprise “Vojvodinašume”, Forest Estate “Sremska Mitrovica”.

The overall goal of the project is to increase climate resilience through the application of new solutions in forest ecosystems restoration.
