Toplice Lipik – Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation – hosted the 2nd Round Table of the RE-TREAD project on 18 May 2026, implemented under the Interreg VI-A IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia–Serbia. Representatives of partner institutions from Croatia and Serbia gathered at Toplice Lipik to exchange knowledge, experiences and examples of good practice in the field of modern rehabilitation.
The central topic of the Round Table was “Multidisciplinary approaches in neurorehabilitation: combining specific therapies, robotics and mobile care for patients”. The participants discussed the application of DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization), the Schroth concept, the use of robotic systems for upper limb rehabilitation, the organisation and functioning of mobile rehabilitation teams, and shared experiences between partner hospitals.
New Advances in Rehabilitation
Following the 1st round table held at the Special Rehabilitation Hospital “Junaković” in Apatin in October 2025, the meeting in Lipik represents an important step forward in further strengthening professional cooperation and developing innovative rehabilitation models. The conclusions and exchanged experiences from this meeting will further contribute to improving protocols in partner hospitals and enhancing the quality of care for patients for whom rehabilitation is a key part of recovery. Based on the exchange of joint experiences, one of the key outcomes of this round table is the planned upgrade of the existing unique comparative study, which will enable a more precise and efficient application of therapeutic protocols for the benefit of patients from the cross-border area.
Experts from partner hospitals shared their professional experience and insights at the event, including Dr Ivan Pavao Čevizović from Toplice Lipik, Prof. Dr Ksenija Bošković from the Special Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases Novi Sad, and Head Nurse Dijana Vračar from the Special Rehabilitation Hospital “Junaković” Apatin. Their participation further confirmed that high-quality rehabilitation today is based on multidisciplinarity, cooperation and a continuous willingness to adopt new knowledge.
Multidisciplinary approaches and innovative therapies in the service of a healthier and more active life
In addition to improving professional protocols for hydrotherapy, the work of mobile teams and rehabilitation procedures using a robotic system for upper limb rehabilitation, the participants also highlighted the broader social importance of the project, particularly in the context of promoting healthy and active lifestyles. The application of modern therapeutic methods, including robotics and the organised work of mobile rehabilitation teams, is aimed not only at recovery, but also at empowering patients to achieve a higher level of independence, regular physical activity and long-term preservation of functional abilities. Such an approach directly contributes to improving quality of life and reducing the risk of further health complications. Through the RE-TREAD project, new multidisciplinary approaches and innovative therapies have been introduced that go beyond the framework of traditional medical rehabilitation. In this way, the RE-TREAD project has become an important platform for promoting a healthy, safe and sustainable lifestyle in the cross-border area of Croatia and Serbia.
