As part of the “EU in my school” campaign, European Commission and the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds of Croatia organized a visit to EU-funded projects in Ernestinovo and Vukovar late last week. The visit included students from Ernestinovo Primary School and children from SOS Children’s Village Croatia in Ladimirevci. The young participants had the opportunity to see firsthand how EU projects are positively transforming local communities, especially through the development of cultural tourism.
The students first toured the construction site of the Creative Children’s Center in Ernestinovo, which is being built as part of the Innatus project, funded through the Interreg IPA Cross-border Programme Croatia–Serbia. Guided by experts, they also visited a gallery featuring wooden sculptures by naive artists, and later took part in a creative workshop where they tried their hand at woodcarving.
After Ernestinovo, the group visited the Vučedol Culture Museum, whose exhibitions are continuously being enhanced through EU-funded projects. There, they learned about the ancient tattooing traditions that were characteristic of Vučedol culture.
