More than 10.000 participants have visited this year’s European Week of Regions and Cities and took part in over 300 workshops, participatory labs and exhibitions. As part of the program, regional tastings were also organized, including the event where our Programme showcased local food products from Croatia and Serbia.
The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union Cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. This year’s event headline was “Regions and Cities: Pillars of the EU’s Future”. The European Week of Regions and Cities 2019 was held from 7 October to 10 October 2019 and more than 10.000 visitors attended, which makes it the most visited edition from 2003.

The Interreg IPA CBC Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020 participated at this year’s edition as part of the Tasting of Regions and Cities program. Together with presenters from Mediterranean regions, we offered tastings of local and authentic food products from our Programme area, and regions of the Interreg IPA CBC Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro Programme as well. Our idea was to present the variety of cultural, geographic and gastronomic practices in our cross-border area. The tasting session was held at the Agora Village and it attracted several hundred visitors on day two of the European Week of Regions and Cities.

In addition to the Tasting of Regions and Cities, our Programme was presented by the R-SOL-E project, shortened for Renewable Solar Energy, which made it to the finals of the REGIOSTARS competition. The project participated at this year’s awards ceremony on the third day of the European Week of Regions and Cities, together with 23 other EU-funded projects nominated for their innovativeness in addressing regional challenges. Although R-SOL-E was not selected as this year’s winner in the Building climate-resilient cities category, its innovativeness was fully recognized. Because of it, the dedication of Croatian and Serbian partners working together across borders put the project on a map of most innovative EU-funded projects of 2019.
