As part of the BIOSOL + project, the City of Nova Gradiška acquired 2 electric bicycles with a charging station and a solar canopy for the needs of the communal wardens. Since the use of e-bikes reduces the harmful impact on the environment and the consumption of fossil fuels, it will contribute to the ecologically sustainable development of the city. The use of e-bikes promotes active forms of mobility and their positive effect on health, the environment and economic profitability, reduces environmental noise pollution and raises the awareness of the local population about the use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.
The BIOSOL + project is implemented as part of the 3rd restricted call for project proposals of the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation program Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020 within Priority Axis 2 “Protecting the environment and biodiversity, improving risk prevention and promoting sustainable energy and energy efficiency” and is co-financed by ERDF and IPA EU funds.
The aim of the project is to support the increased use of sustainable energy and energy efficiency in the cross-border region, while increasing the infrastructure capacity for energy production from renewable sources in the project area.
The project lasts 9 months, from 1 February 2023 until 31 October 2023. The lead partner is the City of Šabac from the Republic of Serbia, and the other partners are the City of Nova Gradiška and LAG Zapadna Slavonija from the Republic of Croatia.
The total value of the project is EUR 338,999.94, of which the EU co-finances EUR 220,000.00.
The project activities carried out so far are related to the organization of workshops, round tables and exhibitions in order to raise awareness of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. The procurement and installation of integrated photovoltaic power plants on 9 public buildings in Šabac and Nova Gradiška with a total power of 200 KW is underway.
