As part of the INNATUS project, a naïve art event was held recently in Ernestinovo, while a second event will soon take place in Subotica.
The Municipality of Ernestinovo is the lead partner of the project, with the Croatian National Council in Subotica, Republic of Serbia, as the project partner.
The project builds on existing naïve art events across the cross-border area, including the Naïve Sculptors’ Colony in Ernestinovo and the Straw Art Colony in Tavankut, by introducing new activities such as art workshops, music events, exhibitions and the joint creation of artworks.
A special focus was placed on straw art. With the participation of artists from Subotica, straw was prepared for creating artworks and a large-scale sculpture which, once completed, will be installed at the Creative Children’s Centre.
Through workshops on creating artworks and decorations from straw, as well as the creation of the large sculpture, visitors, schoolchildren and members of senior citizens’ associations had an opportunity to discover this unique form of artistic expression. The participating artists led practical workshops and introduced participants to the techniques and creative processes involved in working with straw.
The event was further enriched by a range of accompanying activities, including exhibitions of naïve art, sculptures, paintings and straw artworks, music performances, panel discussions with artists, storytelling activities for children and families, film screenings, an open day at the Creative Children’s Centre and other programmes.
The aim of the activity is to further promote and valorise the rich cultural heritage of the cross-border area, while contributing to the sustainability and greater tourism visibility of naïve art events.
