The final promotional event, “Renewable Energy Days,” was held in Požega, Croatia, as part of the cross-border PRO-EFFICIENT project, which aims to improve energy efficiency and promote the use of renewable energy sources in public and residential buildings.

Organised by the City of Požega, the event brought together representatives of the City of Kutjevo in Croatia and the Municipality of Krupanj in Serbia. Participants presented the activities implemented, the results achieved, and opportunities for further cross-border cooperation.

Among the most significant investments in Požega was the construction of a 50.96 kW photovoltaic power plant on the roof of the Tomislav Pirc Sports Hall. The project also supported the modernisation of public lighting through the installation of energy-efficient lighting fixtures, including those in Dr Matija Kožić Street.

As part of the project, design and technical documentation was prepared for two integrated solar power plants with battery storage systems, to be installed on the roofs of Dobriša Cesarić and Julije Kempf primary schools. In addition, a study was developed to prepare for the introduction of an energy community in the City of Požega, laying the groundwork for the further development of the joint production and use of renewable energy.

The project also included educational activities. From 10 to 12 June, the City of Požega organised a three-day workshop at the Požega Business Incubator, attended by 60 representatives of the public sector, civil society, businesses and the general public. The workshops covered renewable energy sources, energy savings and funding opportunities for sustainable solutions.

Furthermore, a study visit to Croatia and Slovenia was organised, providing project partners with an opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about examples of good practice.

Following the presentation of the project results, participants visited the photovoltaic power plant at the Tomislav Pirc Sports Hall and the site of the modernised public lighting system in Dr Matija Kožić Street.

The PRO-EFFICIENT project is jointly implemented by the Municipality of Mali Zvornik, Serbia, as the lead partner, together with the City of Požega and the City of Kutjevo in Croatia, and the Municipality of Krupanj in Serbia.

The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Serbia 2021–2027 Programme. Its overall objective is to promote energy efficiency, increase the use of renewable energy sources and support the development of sustainable solutions at the local level.
