On 10 November, the kick-off meeting for the Cross-Border IT network for competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship – XBIT project of the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020 was held at Startit Centre Inđija, Serbia. Project partners: Association SEE ICT (Serbia); entrepreneurial incubator Osvit (Croatia); Municipality Magadenovac (Croatia); Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad (Serbia); and Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications (Serbia), addressed the guests and present media. Besides the partners, the President of the City Assembly of Inđija, who also said a couple of words, expressed his support to the project, emphasizing the importance it will have for Inđija, the region, and the cross-border relations between Serbia and Croatia.
The overall goal of the project is to improve competitiveness of the Programme area by creating a cross-border network to strengthen cooperation between business support institutions, education organizations, entrepreneurs and start-ups with the aim to develop new and innovative existing products and services in the Programme area.
Through the project, two new digital communities will be developed through the establishment and development of two new centres, on both sides of the border, one in Inđija and the other in Donji Miholjac, Croatia.
In accordance with local characteristics, the Centres will be specialized for one of the most attractive thematic frameworks in the IT industry: VR (Virtual Reality), and the development and application of IoT (Internet of Things) solutions. Each of the established local digital communities will cover the whole Programme area in its field of expertise, gather all interested users and actors and give them the opportunity to work together, learn, network and share knowledge and experiences.
