The final conference of the Take Care! project, co-funded within the Priority Axis 1 of the 1st Call for Proposals, was held on 12 February 2019 in Vinkovci, Croatia.
Take Care! is dedicated to improve accessibility and quality of health and social services for elderlies, infirm people and people with disabilities in the cross-border area. Following 20 months of implementation, five partners of the civil and public sector introduced new services for people in need and contributed to a better healthcare and more inclusive society. A final event was held to share the progress made during project implementation period.
The conference was attended by project partners, representatives of local and regional self-government, users of Take Care! services and Managing Authority and Joint Secretariat officers. Anđelka Krstić, Take Care’s Project Manager, stated: “The importance of our project is reflected in satisfaction of users, project partners and other stakeholders as well as in facilities improved by our activities. Palliative care is slowly finding a place in our community. Thanks to the Take Care! project, it has become even more inclusive for those in need.”
The closing conference was also a chance to reflect on what was achieved by project partners. Seven mobile teams for elderlies, infirm people and people with disabilities were set up, thus employing 32 people from the cross-border area. 40 employees of the social and healthcare sector were educated on palliative care. In order to facilitate transfer of know how between medical institutions from Croatia and Serbia, a Take Care! on-line network platform was developed. Take Care’s efforts have ensured that almost 1.000 residents in need of Vukovar-Srijem County and Srem District have been supported with previously lacking health and social services.
Take Care’s accomplishments brought the social and healthcare sector one step closer to the real needs of users. In this way, Take Care! jointly tackled challenges of Croatia’s and Serbia’s cross-border area and ensured that this project becomes a successful Interreg story.
The conference finished with a formal lunch for all participants.
The Take Care! project involved 5 partners from Croatia and Serbia and was co-funded with 783.453,05 EUR of ERDF and IPA II funds of the Interreg IPA CBC Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020.
