Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Serbia 2014 – 2020 in cooperation with the project partner NGO Zeleni Osijek and Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds (Managing Authority & Joint Secretariat) celebrated the European Cooperation Day 2020 and 30 years of Interreg by planting 15 autochthonous trees of willow (lat. Salix alba) and poplar (lat. Populus alba), by the revitalized Austro-Hungarian channel Čarna in Zlatna Greda on 25 September 2020.
The celebration and tree planting was also attended by the representatives of Hrvatske šume, Municipality of Bilje, City of Osijek, Hrvatske vode and Osijek – Baranja County.
NGO Zeleni Osijek is currently implementing two projects within the 2nd Call for Proposals of the Programme – WetlandRestore and Wild Danube Tour. Their project partners at the other side of the border in Special Nature Reserve Zasavica also planted 15 trees, which makes 30 trees in total for 30 years of Interreg cooperation, and represents one of the themes of the celebration, which is Greener Europe.
Planting 30 trees in two countries participating in the Interreg programme is a sustainable reminder of successful cooperation and valuable results of the projects implemented within the Programme.
