The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, the Center for Palliative Medicine, Medical Ethics and Communication Skills (CEPAMET) and the Zagreb Institute for Health Culture organized a postgraduate course on Continuous Medical Training of the 1st category of PALLIATIVE MEDICINE BASICS, attended by 40 medical staff of all project partners who will perform services palliative care in mobile teams for the needs of the project Take care! Developing and improving health and social services for vulnerable groups.
One of the basic features of palliative medicine is work in a multidisciplinary team and the entire curriculum of the course is based on teamwork education using largely the methods of experimental learning (role playing, simulated patients, video presentations, etc.) The participants gained knowledge on how to plan the needs for palliative medicine, knowledge about psychiatric responses to incurable illness, important features of patient relationship in palliative medicine, relationship between team members, poor news and grievance, and leading psychological problems in palliative medicine. Special emphasis is also placed on the treatment of total pain with various therapeutic options.
The main objective of the Take care! project is to enhance accessibility and quality of health and social services provided to elderly, infirm and people with disabilities across the borders.
