We would like to inform you that our project S.O.S. entered the finals of “The Best EU Project”. Competition is, for the second year in a row, implemented by the Župan.hr portal in cooperation with Jutarnji list, the Croatian County Association and the European Parliament Office in Croatia under the auspices of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU funds.
The Public Institution County Development Agency of Osijek-Baranja County has proposed the project S.O.S. for the selection of the best EU project within the category Contribution to the local and regional community of the EU.
The aim of the project was to develop, integrate, manage and promote a common cultural tourism product based on secession through the revitalization of cultural heritage, as well as the establishment and promotion of a new cultural heritage route that connects Osijek and Subotica. This was achieved by revitalizing the park and architectural heritage through the reconstruction of Sakuntala Park in Osijek and the preparation of documentation for the renovation and tourist valorization of the City Hall in Subotica, one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings in the City.
Sakuntala Park in Osijek has been completely renovated by building new trails, restoring flora, setting up an art pavilion, a bronze model of the Art Nouveau route and an interactive board where you can find interesting information for both tourists and citizens of Osijek.
Also, a local and new cross-border thematic tourist route was created, offered to travel agencies and tour operators as a finished product in the form of an itinerary.
Voting for the most successful project will be enabled through a special platform, which will be open after the presentation of all projects.
The winners will be announced at the Days of Regional Development and EU Funds, which will be held in late September in Opatija.
