Association Slap, project partner in the project Together we stand organized 2 forums on “Action in emergency situations: what we learned from the floods of 2014”, which took place in the premises of JVP Vinkovci on 17 June 2021 in Vinkovci and in the premises of JVP Vukovar on 24 June 2021 in Vukovar.
The forums were organized with the aim of raising general preparedness in case of natural, ecological and technical-technological disasters, as well as environmental awareness.
Josip Kuterovac from „Hrvatske vode“ held a lecture and discussion on the topic “Flood Defense System”, and Krešimir Jelić from JVP Vinkovci presented “Flood Experiences 2014”. The topics presented the situation on the ground during the 2014 floods, the challenges faced by all services, as well as the shortcomings of the emergency response system observed in the field. Mr. Kuterovac presented the noticed problems of the embankment system and the measures that were taken after the flood to rehabilitate and improve the system. Mr. Jelic gave an overview of all the shortcomings observed through the actions of firefighters, as well as an overview of the changes that occurred as a result of the flood. Through both lectures, the attendees learned first hand about the current state of works, equipment, as well as plans for the development of flood protection systems.
In addition to interesting lectures, the forums also had a demonstration part where JVP Vinkovci and JVP Vukovar presented rescue equipment for cases of floods and chemical accidents and explained to the audience how to apply the equipment in the field.
The project is co-financed by the ERDF and IPA II funds of the European Union within the Interreg IPA CBC Program Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020.
