Launch of the European Social Innovation Competition in Ljubljana

This year’s edition of the Social Innovation Competition will be held in Cankarjev Dom in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 28 February 2019.

Launched in memory of social innovation pioneer Diogo Vasconcelos, the European Social Innovation Competition is a beacon for social innovation in Europe. The Competition utilizes a proven methodology for supporting early-stage ideas and facilitates a network of radical innovators shaping society for the better. Diogo was chairman of the Social Innovation Exchange and also launched the Entrepreneurs Academy among other accomplishments. He passed away in July 2011 at the age of 43.

The event will bring together innovators, entrepreneurs and policy makers for an afternoon of networking and talks on social innovation. The Competition calls all Europeans to come up with solutions to the problems affecting our society. Every year three prizes of €50,000 are awarded to the best ideas that aim to tackle a social problem faced by communities across Europe.

The launch of the 2019 edition will take place next Thursday. Previous Competition winners and the expert judging panel will share their insights on developing solutions for a better society. A live social innovation ideation session will be held and the ‘Toasted Furniture’ circular economy art exhibition will be organized as well.
