Following the success of last year’s #EUandME campaign, when five directors produced short films covering topics such as EU values and achievements, the Commision is launching a new competition for young directors.
The competition is part of the #EUandME campaign, which aims to show how EU legislation and initiatives can impact young people and motivate them to do what they love most. As part of the competition, young filmmakers are offered to record their own short film in one of five categories:
- Mobility
- Sustainability
- Skills & business
- Digital
- Rights
Applicants interested in the competition should develop an idea for a film and document the impact of the European Union in everyday life. Applicants will enter a pre-selection process, after which a jury of senior film directors will select two nominees for each category. The 5 winners will be selected by a public vote online, which will take place in January-February 2019.
The competition is open to individual European filmmakers residing in the EU and aged between 18 and 35. Five winners will receive a grant of €7,500 each to produce, shoot and edit their film.
The idea for a short film must be submitted using the online application form.
The #EUandME competition provides a great opportunity for filmmakers, both amateur and professional. Covering one of the abovementioned categories, this competition can be used to promote cross-border cooperation as well.
