At the ’Veliki’ Hotel in Novi Sad, a workshop of the EU project INTERCLIM was held, with the aim of strengthening the resilience of urban environments to climate change through the use of green infrastructure and digital tools. The project is implemented within the Interreg IPA CBC Croatia–Serbia program and is co-financed by the European Union.

The workshop was organized by the Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad (UNSPMF) – project leader. The event brought together representatives of the scientific community, local self-governments, and experts in the field of sustainable development, climate change, and urban planning. The program commenced with media statements, followed by the official segment with introductory remarks and presentations.

Prof. Dr. Stevan Savić (UNSPMF) presented the aims and activities of the INTERCLIM project, emphasizing the importance of developing interactive climate services for the cross-border region of Serbia and Croatia. He then presented indicators of the natural and social impact of nature-based solutions during the workshop.

Srećko Kukić from Osijek spoke about the concept of the “New European Bauhaus (NEB)” and emphasized how such projects are important for sustainable development and modernisation of space in accordance with EU green values.

Milica Vasić (UNSPMF) presented on urban water management, highlighting the importance of integrating green solutions and natural systems to reduce flood risks and improve quality of life in cities.

Following a brief discussion, Hrvoje Krstić from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Osijek – GRAFOS spoke about horizontal and vertical green solutions and their impact on sustainability and energy efficiency of buildings.

Ivan Šećerov from the UNSPMF presented platforms and integrated IT systems functioning for urban climate.

The workshop was an opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices from the region, as well as to strengthen cooperation between experts from Serbia and Croatia in a joint response to climate challenges.

The INTERCLIM project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Serbia. The project is co-financed in the amount of 1,534,920.80 EUR, and the total value of the project is 1,805.768.00 EUR. The project implementation is in the period September 2024-March 2027, and the project consortium consists of the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Sciences (project leader), PUC City Greenery Novi Sad, Josip JurajStrossmayerUniversity of Osijek Faculty of Civil Engeenering and Architecture Osijek, and City of Osijek.
