About

Project MOS-Cross 2 is building on knowledge and raised institutional capacities gained during project Mos Cross financed within the 1st CfP. It will include new viruses and pathogens: malaria, chikungunya and dengue fever. The “Upgraded Joint emergency protocol in case of MBD epidemic outbreak” will be introduced to new project areas. The overall objective is to improve public health services with regards to MBDs by introducing a monitoring system with the aim of ascertaining the presence of invasive mosquito species and control in the cross-border area.

Partners

Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranja County (HR) is the project’s lead partner, in charge of collection and processing of data on adult mosquito presence, sampling for MBDs, implementation of the Joint emergency and preparedness protocol in case of MBD epidemic outbreak, monitoring of the subcontracted mosquito abatement services. It will also be responsible for transferring knowledge gained through MOS-Cross1 to public health workers in Požega-Slavonia County and South Bačka district together with Institute from Sombor so that they can organize educations for school children and the elderly in public homes, as well as organizing educations for retirees’ associations in Osijek-Baranja County.

Public Health Institute Sombor (RS) is in charge of data collection and processing on adult mosquito presence, sampling mosquitoes for detection of mosquito–borne diseases (MBDs), participation in preparation of the Joint emergency and preparedness protocol in case of MBDs epidemic outbreak. Regarding education of the public, the Institute’s staff members will provide their expertise on various public events for citizens where individual mosquito control measures will be presented, then workshops for school children in elementary schools and information session for the elderly in retirees associations. Based on mapping and the Upgraded ICT tool, the Institute will prepare predictions regarding the mosquito population.

Institute of Public Health for the Požega-Slavonia County (HR) is in charge of preparation of recommendations for local government units in cross-border area presenting efficient and ecologically acceptable mosquito abatement and participate in its presentation to LGU representatives. Based on mapping and the Upgraded ICT tool, the Institute will prepare predictions regarding the mosquito population.

European Affairs Fund of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (RS) will be responsible for preparation of public tenders for subcontracting services of mapping for extended area for mosquito breeding sites and the creation of the Upgraded mosquito database (ICT tool)- web based and mobile application that will integrate the results of the mapping process, collected and processed data for the creation of predictions including an early warning system of MBDs in the cross-border area.

Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina (RS) will contribute to the preparation of recommendations for local government units in cross-border area presenting efficient and ecologically acceptable mosquito abatement and participate in its presentation to LGU representatives.
