The Launching conference of RE-TREAD project, a significant EU-funded healthcare initiative valued at 1.4 million euros was held in Novi Sad on 17 December 2024. During the conference, key speakers representing partner institutions outlined the project’s objectives and planned activities.

This cross-border cooperation project aims to enhance healthcare efficiency for elderly persons and people with disabilities across West-Bačka and South-Bačka districts in Serbia and Požega-Slavonia County in Croatia.

The project will implement state-of-the-art robotics for rehabilitation, modernize infrastructure and introduce innovative physical therapy methods including DNS and Schroth. To ensure comprehensive patient care, the initiative will develop a web portal with video materials and exercise guidelines, establish mobile advisory teams for post-rehabilitation monitoring and create an educational-consultation center.

Four strategic partners are collaborating on this initiative: Special Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases Novi Sad (SRB) as Lead Partner, Toplice Lipik – Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation (CRO), Special Hospital for Rehabilitation “Junaković” Apatin (SRB) and PANORA Development Agency (CRO). The opening conference brought together key stakeholders from healthcare, academic and economic sectors, including representatives from the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad and the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina.

The project, set to run for 30 months until March 2027, receives 85% of its funding through the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Croatia-Serbia. Through this comprehensive approach, RE-TREAD aims to modernize medical services, diversify knowledge in diagnostics and rehabilitation and promote family and community-based healthcare models across the region.
