The kickoff conference of the “Digital Pathology and Telemedicine – DigiPath” project was held at Hotel Osijek in Osijek on 21 February 2025, marking a significant step forward in the digitalization of pathology and the enhancement of cross-border cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Serbia. The project is led by the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina in Sremska Kamenica, with the University Hospital Centre Osijek as its project partner.

The conference brought together representatives from the project’s lead and partner institutions, as well as medical experts in pathology, oncology, and digital medicine. Participants were introduced to the project’s planned activities and expected outcomes, including scientific publications, presentations at international congresses, and long-term cooperation in the field of digital pathology.

The primary goal of DigiPath is the digitalization of pathology through the development of a digital and telepathology platform, enabling faster and more precise diagnosis, overcoming geographical barriers, and enhancing the education of specialists in both countries. Additionally, the project will foster the development of a joint educational and research program through workshops and scientific studies.

The University Hospital Centre Osijek has procured services for the production of promotional materials and the organization of the kickoff conference. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the public procurement of medical and IT equipment worth € 219,548.33.
