Emergency Medical Service of Osijek-Baranja County has acquired, within the framework of the S.O.O.S. Sombor–Osijek Emergency Response Partnership project, funded by the INTERREG VI-A IPA Croatia–Serbia Programme 2021–2027, 11 mobile laboratories used for capillary blood analysis and determination of troponin status in cardiac arrest for medication therapy (baseline patient status).
The i-STAT system is intended for in vitro diagnostic use. The portable handheld analyser, together with a cartridge containing the required tests and 2–3 drops of blood, enables the operator to obtain quantitative test results for blood gases, chemistry, and coagulation in approximately two minutes.
Portable printers and infrared communication devices allow printing of all patient data and transfer to centralized information systems for record keeping. The Data Manager includes management tools such as real-time monitoring of testing and operator competency.

Mobile laboratories enable diagnosis of heart attack, early initiation of therapy and better organization of emergency services. They are a key step towards modern, faster and more efficient care for cardiology patients. They represent above-standard equipment in an emergency medical vehicle. Above standard equipment provides standardized and timely (JIT) emergency medical treatment.
