Enhancing family-oriented tourism offer in cross – border region through investment in improving and promoting nature – based solutions, regional identity, inclusive and smart tourist solutions

Operation purpose and expected achievements:
Development and promotion of existing tourist product of family-oriented tourism based on public tourist property (ZOOs) into a value-added tourism product adapted to families with children, children with special needs, zoo visitors and garden lovers. ZOO Palić and Unikom are responsible for the activities concerning the building and refurbishing of small-scale infrastructure in respected ZOOs, including petting zoos (horses, donkeys, cows, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.), children playgrounds adjusted for children with disabilities and outdoor educational venues which will enable both tourism organization to further develop family-oriented tourism offer. TZ Osijek and TO Subotica will coordinate making of project’s integrated communication strategy, PR, and communication plan of the project as well as visual identity and promotional materials of the project.


 

Beneficiaries:

ZOO Palić (RS) as Lead Partner will enhance existing family tourism product – FAMILY TOURISM in strong synergy with the Subotica Tourist Organization. These two organizations will create a new tourist offer in a strong synergy, where the ZOO will provide the conditions, infrastructure, human capacities, and the Subotica Tourist Organization will promote and nurture this tourist product. The ZOO garden will be a gathering place for product users (playground, petting zoo), a place of education, a meeting place for educators, zoologists, biologists, teachers, parents, children, associations, schools, kindergartens. The garden will create all the prerequisites for active developing a tourism product that will continue to live and develop even after the end of the project. By renovating the children’s playground, building a petting zoo, and renovating classrooms, the garden will create an oasis ideal for play, learning, coexistence with nature, and an oasis for the protection of indigenous species and natural heritage.

Unikom ltd (HR) as Project Partner will provide physical infrastructure that will be used to promote family-oriented tourism offer in cross-border region. It will enhance its offering by introducing petting zoo which will present indigenous animal species as well as farm animals to visitors, mainly families with children and will improve access to children with disabilities by refurbishing and extending already existing children playground. It will also also include outdoor teaching venue (gazebo) in area of petting zoo and introduce information dissemination tools adjusted to people, and especially children with disabilities. It will work in close cooperation with both tourism organization to provide input and support in creating new regional tourism offer. It will work with Palić ZOO to develop specialized educational programs based on indigenous animal species.


Subotica Tourist Organization (RS) as Project Partner will apply created visual identity of the project based on the developed communication strategy and make it recognizable in the cross-border region. The promotional material that will be created during the duration of the project will reach the hands of all those who make up the target group of this project, which are primarily families, children, participants of conferences, work gatherings. The brochures that will be educational material for children will remain material that will help the maintenance and duration of the project for many years to come and will be the basis for new manuals. When creating promotional materials, the Subotica Tourist Organization will be assisted by inclusive associations, associations that deal with children with special needs in order not only to give these children media and social space, but also the opportunity to be a significant part of the social community. The organization of conferences, fairs, work meetings, exhibitios are only among the series of activities that will be assigned to the Tourist Organization with the aim of promoting the project more strongly.

Tourist board of the city of Osijek (HR) as Project Partner will lead making of integrated communication strategy, PR and communication plan and project visual as well as promotional materials for the project promotion. It will, in cooperation with all the other partners, organize different events to enhance family tourism offer such as conferences, educations, open days, exhibitions, etc. It will extend and improve web presence as well as procure equipment to enhance visitors experience (WR glasses, interactive presentation tools, etc.).
