Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The overall objective of this project is to fortify and improve the cross-border healthcare system in the pathology field and to assess the necessary steps for implementing digital pathology to foster and
enhance technological development, innovation, research and education. The main outputs are:
– Pilot action: Establishment of a virtual cross-border workspace/digital telepathology platform for real-time cross-border collaboration of pathologists from two regions
– A formal agreement on future collaboration of two cross-border partners after the project’s completion.
Beneficiaries:
Oncology Institute of Vojvodina (RS) as Lead Partner will take on the role of initiator in establishing a digital platform that is shared by both partners in the project. After acquiring the necessary equipment and establishing the technical capabilities for digital processing and communication, both Oncology Institute of Vojvodina and University Hospital Centre Osijek will assume the responsibility of making the new platform visible and accessible to all specialised staff members in the collaborating regions.
University Hospital Centre Osijek (HR) as Project Partner will document and store the samples on a server to which experts from Oncology Institute of Vojvodina will have access, further, they will have a role in education and organization of meetings and to actively participate in discussions, analyzes and exchange of opinions for specific cases. At the end of the research, project partners will reach a joint conclusion needed for creation and publication of a scientific work that will be published at a conference or expert meeting in the field of pathology.
