Advancing Innovations for Welding through Artifical Intelligence Across Borders (AI-WELD)

Priority Axis 1: Cooperating for smarter programme area
Operation start date: 15 June 2024
Operation completion date: 14 December 2025
Budget: EUR 390.788,00
Number of partners: 2

Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The overall project objective is to foster the growth of a smart and innovative economy throughout the region by focusing on research, innovation, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies. Project main objective fits with the Program specific objective since it encompasses developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies through leveraging knowledge, creativity, and cutting-edge technologies for developing smart welding solutions. Main output is development of AI-Enhanced Welding Control System. A new technological solution will be jointly developed by project partners which uses advanced AI algorithms for visual recognition and robotic welding control. This novel system will improve the efficiency and precision of current welding methods in the CB region. It can be further used or adapted in various industries in the region and beyond. The integration of the system into the curricula of educational institutions will ensure its long-term sustainability and development.
Partners will cooperate on the further development and improvement of AI algorithms for the optimization of welding processes and on the implementation of a predictive maintenance system for welding robots using artificial intelligence. The joint solution, after implementation, will be adopted, continued, and improved by both institutionsa within the project partnership. Tthis will lead to the adoption of the solution in the institution’s strategies.
