On 12 December 2024, the kick-off conference for the MAJESTIC ZOO-S project was held at the ZOO Hotel, Osijek. This project brought together key stakeholders to advance family tourism in Osijek and Subotica and their respective zoos.
The conference, attended by more than 70 participants, emphasized the importance of family tourism as a vital segment of the global tourism industry.
As part of the project, Palić Zoo will build a modern children’s playground, an interactive Baby Zoo, and a summer classroom equipped with educational materials for schoolchildren. Meanwhile, Osijek Zoo will reconstruct the existing playground, add a sensory playground, and construct a Slavonian Village—an educational space focusing on domestic animals and traditions. Additionally, the tourist boards of Osijek and Subotica will organize a series of promotional activities, including events, fairs, the production of a promotional film, and training sessions for tourism professionals according to the “Family Welcome” standards.
After the official program, participants enjoyed a reception where they exchanged experiences, built new partnerships, and engaged in networking. The relaxed atmosphere enabled further sharing of ideas and collaborative plans. You can view how the conference unfolded in our photo gallery.
