As part of the CREATEGREEN project, the City of Sombor has successfully completed the installation of two photovoltaic power plants on public buildings. These renewable energy investments advance climate action and energy sustainability in the Interreg IPA Croatia–Serbia Programme area.

Under the project, a 250 kW AC PV system has been installed atop the Indoor Swimming Pool facility on Apatinski put. Constructed in full compliance with approved technical documentation, the system entered trial operation on 5 December 2025. For larger installations like this, grid connection includes building a connection/distribution substation (PRP), obtaining a use permit, and establishing a prosumer agreement for surplus energy exchange. During the trial phase, electricity generation matches real-time consumption; smart metering controls any excess to prevent unintended injection into the grid. The full connection process typically takes around six months.

Meanwhile, a 40 kW PV installation on the roof of the Sokolski Dom building on Venac Petra Bojovića has been in trial operation since 3 December 2025. Smaller installations up to 50 kW follow a streamlined connection procedure focused on adapting the metering point to a bi-directional meter and signing a prosumer agreement. The expected grid-connection period for this system is two to three months.

Both installations were delivered in accordance with project documentation and represent concrete achievements in renewable energy deployment, supporting the Programme’s objectives of promoting green energy and capacity building in the cross-border region. Full grid connection and operational readiness will further enable energy savings and environmental benefits for the local community.
