At the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek, work continues despite the dormant phase of the grapevine. Recent months have seen intense activity at the site with the construction of the future Center for the Prevention of Negative Impacts of Climate Change in Viticulture, which will play a pivotal role in the ADAPTVitis project.
ADAPTVitis is a strategic cross-border initiative funded by our Programme, aimed at enhancing the resilience of viticulture to climate change, particularly drought. The project brings together partners from both Croatia and Serbia to ensure the sustainability and prosperity of viticulture, a key economic sector, through scientific research, innovative practices, and strengthened cooperation.
The ADAPTVitis Center, located in Croatia, will serve as a hub for research, climate condition monitoring, and the education of winegrowers, students, and young researchers. It will also be a testing ground for developing new grapevine varieties that are resistant to drought and other climate-related challenges.
Excitement is growing as the construction work progresses ahead of schedule, bringing us closer to realizing this vital resource for the future of viticulture in the region.
