On November 12, 2024, a capacity building workshop was held at the Municipal Hall of the Municipality of Ernestinovo, as a part of the project activity of the INNATUS project.

The workshop had two working units, a workshop entitled “Workshop on Sustainable Practices in Cultural Tourism and Destination Management” and followed by a discussion on these topics where all present stakeholders, project partners, family tourist-agricultural farms, associations and artists in the field of naïve art participated. The aim of the activity was to improve the competencies, skills and knowledge of project team members and stakeholders within the NATUS network, to empower them to effectively contribute to the project and its sustainability.

The workshop discussed the interconnected aspects of sustainable cultural tourism and destination management, through three pillars of sustainability: economic sustainability, local community benefit and environmental protection. Participants gained insight into the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of naïve art, as a means of enriching the tourist experience.

During the workshop, strategies for maintaining a balance between visitor satisfaction and the interests of the local community and environmental protection were also discussed, the greater need to encourage the involvement of the local community in the tourist offer of the area, and how to adapt local products from the area to tourists and visitors.
