On Friday, December 19, 2025, the final conference of the project “Targeted Delivery of Antitumor Drugs Employing Biodegradable Carriers – ABIDERS” funded by the EU under the IPA Interreg VI-A IPA Programme Croatia – Serbia 2021-2027 took place in the P1 lecture hall of the Faculty of Medicine in Osijek.
All members of the project team — Faculty of Medicine Osijek, Josip Juraj Strossmayera, University of Osijek, Croatia, as lead partner and the Institute of Food Technology in Novi Sad, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, as the Partner 2 participated in the conference. The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Osijek, Prof. Dr. Domagoj Drenjančević; the Vice-Dean for Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Stupin; and the Director of FINS, Dr. Miloš Pelić.
Project Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katarina Mišković Špoljarić presented the project and achieved project goals: procurement of equipment necessary for the implementation of the project and monitoring of biological activity, specialized workshop for students and education on the use of equipment purchased with project funds, as well as the publication of two scientific papers on the project topic. Dr. Aleksandra Torbica, the project partner’s manager, informed the attendees about the achievements of the partner’s project team as well as the equipment purchased for the preparation and production of biodegradable carriers made of dextran and inulin.
The project lasted 18 months (01.07.2024. – 31.12.2025.), with a total budget of €286,702.54 and resulted in a new and effective cooperation between the teaching and a higher education institution that educates experts in the field of Biomedicine and Health (Faculty of Medicine in Osijek, Croatia) and a scientific institute that primarily deals with nutrition (Scientific Institute of Food Technologies, Novi Sad, RS). The established cooperation will serve as a good pilot action and a basis for future projects.
