Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The overall objective of this project is to improve accessibility and equal access to public health services for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in rural cross-border area. The project will develop the services of mobile clinics in rural areas and access to e-consultation app and will introduce new health service in the programme area: nutrigenetic analysis and nutrition counselling (for 1.500 people).
The main outputs of the project are:
– Improved access to health services in the cross-border area
– Established Interactive cross-border app for e-consultation
– Training for the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases in the cross-border area
Beneficiaries:
Teaching Institute of Public Health for the Osijek-Baranja County (HR) as Lead Partner will improve the health of the population with a focus on rural cross border areas, by reducing the impact of risk factors on health by implementing effective health promotion measures and primary and secondary disease prevention. The aim is to increase the awareness of risky behaviours for the development of CVD and diabetes, influence the determinants of health, prevent the development of the disease and improve the access to preventive health checks and counselling services with specialists and the quality of life of people. NZJZ OBZ will participate in the establishment of the mobile clinics for determining cardiovascular risk with counselling in rural areas. Inside the vehicle (mobile clinic), nutritional composition assessment and sampling for laboratory analyses for cardiovascular and diabetes risk assessment will be done. Also, a manual for the establishment and functioning of the mobile clinic will be created to ensure replicability and sustainability of this activity. The team will introduce a new service in the project area: Nutrigenetic analysis on the tendency to obesity and the development of diabetes. The NZJZ OBZ team will be in charge of the interactive app e-consultation development that will be accessed by the Croatian and Serbian sides. Primary role of the app will be to improve accessibility to nutritional counselling and other health specialists with the goal to prevent CVDs and diabetes. NZJZ OBZ will organize workshops for the elderly as well as for youth in high schools.
In order to promote proper nutrition and regular physical activity, which help maintain a healthy body weight and disease prevention, events “Walking Festival” in project area will be organized.
Public Health Institute Sombor (RS) as Project Partner will ensure equal access to health services for the population in the project implementation area through the implementation of its project activities and the active action of its experts. It is expected that the planned activities will increase the awareness of risky behaviours for the development of CVD and diabetes, influence the determinants of health, prevent the development of the disease and improve the quality of life of people. ZZJZSO will participate in the establishment and implementation of the mobile clinics for determining cardiovascular risk with counselling in rural areas. The mobile clinic will enable the practical application of dietary guidelines for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, which will make a new form of prevention more accessible to the rural population, which is less accessible and less known in remote rural areas. During the consultation, the created educational materials will be used. Users, who are assessed by the expert team as having a very high risk of disease, will be prepared with nutrition counselling. With its activities, it will contribute to the development of an interactive app for e-consultation, on which the results of preventive examinations will be uploaded, which will be analysed by medical experts and the results will be issued and provide better access to patients and specialists. ZZJZSO will introduce a new service in the area of the project: Nutrigenetic analysis on the tendency to obesity and the development of diabetes. ZZJZSO will train its professional staff for the needs of the future nutritional counselling activities in Sombor. For the functional operation the existing space will be adapted and equipped. ZZJZSO will organize and conduct workshops for the elderly and youth in high schools to promote the benefits of proper nutrition and regular physical activity.
Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina (RS) as Project Partner will be in charge of monitoring and analysis of the health status of the population and determinants of health, as well as proposing population measures to solve health problems, preserve and improve health. Following health trends, it was observed that the number of people suffering from CV diseases and diabetes is increasing. Through the project activities, IZJZV will focus on the population of the rural cross-border area with the aim of improving the health of the population, reducing the impact of risk factors on health by implementing effective health promotion measures, as well as primary and secondary disease prevention. The implementation of the activities will increase awareness of risk behaviours for the development of CVD and diabetes, influence determinants of health, prevent the development of diseases and improve the quality of life. Through active action of its experts, it will ensure equal access to health services for the population in the project implementation area. By establishing and implementing mobile clinics in rural areas, which will carry out an assessment of the nutritional composition based on a clinical examination, anthropometric measurements, biochemical tests, dietary methods and counselling on proper nutrition and healthy lifestyles, healthcare is brought to the end users who live in remote areas and makes it accessible to all and provides a practical example of dietary guidance for diabetes and cardiovascular disease in areas where such advice and information, reviews are less available.
As part of the new service Nutrigenetic analysis on the tendency to obesity and the development of diabetes, IZJZV will be responsible to transfer knowledge on nutrigenetic analysis to other partner institutions through workshops. The findings made as part of the project would serve as the basis for the selection of guidelines on the prevention of non-communicable diseases. In order to promote proper nutrition and regular physical activity, which help maintain a healthy body weight and disease prevention, IZJZV will participate in the creation of a manual and the organization of the “Walking Festival” event. With experts of IZJZV it will conduct workshops for the elderly and youth in high schools with the aim of promoting the benefits of proper nutrition and regular physical activity.
Fund for European Affairs and Development of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (RS) as Project Partner will participate in the coordination and organization of activities so as to ensure efficient and timely project implementation. FEP will be focused on organizing events to empower target groups in the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases, specifically training on CVD and diabetes risk assessment and prevention for health workers and walking festivals aimed at the general public to promote healthy lifestyle through physical activity. Complementary to the organization of project events, FEP will be engaged in the design and publishing of the instruction manual for mobile clinics, manual for cardiovascular disease and diabetes prevention and healthy lifestyle guidelines. FEP will also be greatly involved in the promotion of the project and its results, carrying out media campaign and developing promotional material to be distributed to target groups at the project events.
