Operation purpose and expected achievements:
The overall objective of the project is to enhance the role of culture and sustainable tourism in wider areas of Municipality of Ernestinovo and Subotica, by strengthening stakeholder capacities, developing cultural tourism infrastructure and distinctive cultural tourism offer grounded in shared cultural heritage of naïve art, thereby fostering economic development, social inclusion and social innovation in cross-border area.
Project will establish NATUS: Naive Art and Sustainable Tourism Network integrating 20 stakeholders, of which two are partner organizations formally collaborating in the project. This network will be solidified by a cooperation agreement, outlining the mission, objectives, and modality of collaboration. Beyond the immediate stakeholders within the network, the broader regional community will benefit. Tourists, local businesses, and cultural enthusiasts will gain from enhanced coordination in promoting naïve art and sustainable tourism, ensuring a consolidated effort in boosting the regions’ cultural tourism appeal. Also, in Municipality of Ernestinovo, the project will construct Creative Children’s Centre with furnishings and state-of-the-art equipment. Concurrently, the Subotica Interactive Cultural Centre will undergo vital adaptation works, ensuring it meets the standards of a modern-day cultural hub. Both centres will be enriched with modern VR technology and enable branding of smart tourist destinations.


 

Beneficiaries:

Municipality of Ernestinovo (HR) as Lead Partner will manage the project, overseeing timely and budget-conscious implementation of activities, coordinate the project team, liaise with stakeholders, and facilitate effective communication among all entities. Municipality of Ernestinovo will oversee Mapping naïve art resources, activities, and stakeholders and guide the research to identify and classify naïve art resources in the region, helping to create an exhaustive inventory. Also, Municipality of Ernestinovo will manage the stakeholder analysis and the production of a comprehensive report detailing the current state of naïve art and will have crucial role in establishing and managing NATUS Network. In the pilot project, Municipality of Ernestinovo spearheads planning, coordination, and implementation of the pilot activities in Ernestinovo. They partner with Subotica artists, providing resources for creating large sculptures and conducting workshops for diverse participants, including children and pensioner associations. Municipality of Ernestinovo also hosts a four-day art event featuring straw sculpture creation, educational workshops, and various cultural events. Additionally, they actively promote Ernestinovo’s naïve sculpture heritage, fostering community engagement and inter-regional collaboration with Subotica artists. Municipality of Ernestinovo will play a significant role in creating an attractive, sustainable, and technologically innovative joint tourism offer that effectively highlights the unique cultural heritage of wider areas of Ernestinovo and Subotica and will collaborate with other stakeholders in the project to develop various components of the tourism offer, such as joint naïve art tours, educational programs, digital experiences, inter-generational activities, and cultural events.


National Council of Croatian National Minority (RS) as Project Partner will actively participate in project management and coordination activities as partner and coordinate study visits immersive trips to naïve art locations and cultural organizations in North Bačka District. These visits aim to engage with artists, offer hands-on experience of naïve art creation, and foster understanding of the art’s cultural and tourism significance. National Council of Croatian National Minority will organize capacity building workshops in Subotica to enhance the skills of stakeholders in the NATUS network and the project team. These workshops, focus on sustainable cultural tourism, digitalization, and intergenerational tourism. National Council of Croatian National Minority will provide its rich knowledge of the culture and history of naïve art in the CB area. In adapting the Interactive Cultural Center in Subotica, National Council of Croatian National Minority will oversee the transformation of a basement space into a creative cultural center for education, exhibitions, and future project activities. In the Pilot Project activities, which test the potential of joint cross-border naïve art manifestations for cultural tourism, National Council of Croatian National Minority will organize art workshops, music events, exhibitions, and collaborative artwork creation in Subotica. In Creating Joint Tourism Offer, they will leverage insights from the pilot project to develop a unique tourism offer that combines the cultural heritage of wider area of Subotica.
